June was meant to bring summer, but we are still waiting. We have had a few warm days, but overall temperatures are well below what I would expect.
Herbs, garlic, onions, and vegetables are doing well. At this stage, I am not seeing the same growth as last year, as plants do need sunshine. Still, the plants are doing well. However, there is a noticeable difference compared to the last couple of years.
I can give you an example. My Black Beauty eggplants are doing okay but are yet to get truly established outdoors.
The same could, to a certain extent, be said for my tomato plants. The plants are growing well, but the flowering and fruiting stages only started in late June.

Flowering tomato plant. A true indication of the arrival of summer in our garden.
These flowers belong to a Black Cherry tomato plant growing in a container.
My San Marzano plum tomatoes were started late this year. Not that clever as San Marzano is a slow grower that needs time to mature.

Thriving cucumber plant flowering. Yes, this is the same plant I moved outdoors last month.
The plant is growing well, and I expect a good harvest as warmer weather is forecasted.

Tomatillo plants and their distinctive flowers.
I like growing Tomatillos. Still, it is not one of those plants I grow every year.
I am planning a how-to-grow guide and will most likely publish it later this summer.

My outdoor herb garden with sage, mint, chives and lemon balm.
Herb gardens are quite easy to care for and oh-so-delicious to have at hand as the summer BBQ season arrives.
All my herbs are started from seed or propagated from my own cuttings.
