August has been crazy windy over here.
Mad storms with tropical rainfalls. It made me think of the days when I lived in Florida. (I told you I have first-hand knowledge of other grow zones.)
Kidding aside, my plants survived.
But I did lose a branch here and there. And I had to harvest a few green unripe sweet peppers and quite a few almost ripe tomatoes off the ground.
No worries.
I am pleased I spent time staking and supporting my cucumber, pepper and tomato plants properly. The stakes were definitely put to the test, and I did learn a few new things.
August is harvest time; we harvest herbs, leafy greens, tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, carrots, radishes, and so on.
This also means we spend a fair bit of time making hot sauces, Marinara sauces, spice blends and rubs.
Needless to say, we also preserve many fruits and vegetables. I have never really written about that part of gardening. What you actually do when you harvest more than you can eat fresh. Let me know if you want to read a recipe and how-to-use section on MattMagnusson.com.
